Snug as a Bug in a... Contraption of Their Own Design!
Playcore and UltraPlay designed Snug Play is an innovative, unique way for kids to engage in interactive play that helps them connect with others and build spatial and creative skills! The Snug Play system was inspired by research on how kids design play spaces for themselves, and it is built on cooperative play principles that encourage growth in all directions as they collaborate to design and engineer a new play environment as they go. It focuses on highly communicative, collaborative play, allowing kids to use the play system and its many play parts to create their own play environment, allowing them to build at a giant scale, develop teamwork skills, and form bonds through play with their peers and friends. Snug Play is also completely accessible play equipment: since kids are designing their own play environment and working together, it’s a great way for kids to experience all-ability play and learn to communicate and play with people of all abilities. Snug Play systems are truly unlike anything else, and that’s why they’re often chosen by schools, child development centers, and children’s museums alike. Take a peek and see how your playground or park could benefit from incorporating Snug Play!
How to Snug Play
SnugPlay systems are made up of interactive playground equipment that were essentially designed by kids after educators and researchers determined the best, most imaginative and cross-functional ways that certain components and structures could be used and reused. Each Snug Play kit comes equipped with pieces that serve as building blocks in forming the play experience, but the pieces are so unique and can be used in a variety of ways that building blocks are hardly a fair comparison! Noodle pieces connect to curved walls or mounds, loop rings feed into bumps, cogs are bases or roofs or gears… whatever they can come up with, they are able to create! Snug Play is big enough for it to be immersive even for older children, so it makes excellent elementary school playground equipment, and smaller kits with more essential parts are great indoor playground equipment or preschool playground equipment. Children are able to engage their imaginations and also each other in all sorts of different types of play as they build together, play together, and let their minds run wild, all while getting great active engagement and exercise as they design, build, and explore.
A Play System With Endless Possibilities
Snug Play kits are made up of lots of different loose parts, truly designed to be imagination toys and endless opportunities for students to build their own kids playground. Each kit expands beyond the average toy playset by providing basic parts that can be used in lots of different ways: some of them serve as bases and climbing elements, like the mound or loop pieces, but others are connectors, roofs, wheels, gears, and anything else that your children can think up! Snug Play pieces are made up of durable, soft foam and plastic, so that even though they’re full-scale play components, they’re both safe and not too unwieldy for kids to engineer, especially when they work together—which is the goal!—and they also can withstand pretty much anything. The goal of the modular play system is to activate as much of the kids’ brains as possible as they build social skills, creative thinking, problem solving, and more, while also providing high-energy play that gives them the most fun exercise ever (while also housing potential to create an ADA accessible playground). Loose parts play challenges kids in unique ways because the answers aren’t obvious, and there aren’t any wrong ones: however they can dream up to put the Snug Play pieces together, they’re thinking and creating and growing in new and special ways. Loose parts also store and clean easily, and every time you take them out for a new day, kids get a fresh opportunity to invent new play.
