I wanted to send an update...My son took on the project of raising money to give our local park a makeover for his Eagle Scout project. Through hard work and determination, he completed his project this past Sunday. The playground equipment looks amazing!
When a local Scout set out to revitalize a neighborhood park for an Eagle Scout project, the goal was clear: turn an outdated space into a vibrant, inclusive play area. Through community fundraising, planning, and hands-on effort, the project officially wrapped up with a complete playground transformation.
A parent involved in the project shared an update following the final installation:

The Equipment Selection
To serve children across different developmental stages and ability levels, the project incorporated two complementary play systems:

Santa Monica Playground: Designed for preschool and elementary-aged children, this structure balances high-energy physical challenges with ground-level sensory play. Multi-level platforms are accessible via traditional stairs, a vertical ladder, and a curved overhead rung ladder, giving kids multiple ways to climb before choosing from several slide options—including a double wave slide at the top. For physical accessibility, the ground level features an ADA-compliant mix of bongos, a ship’s wheel, rain wheels, and a bench panel so kids of all abilities can play together.

St. Augustine Playground:Targeted at toddlers and younger children, this compact structure focuses on early sensory and motor skill development. It incorporates interactive play elements including a gear panel, bubble panel, and tic-tac-toe panel, along with a toddler-friendly straight slide. Its small footprint makes it a practical centerpiece for dedicated early-childhood play areas.
This project highlights how targeted equipment choices can help turn an underutilized community space into a safe, engaging park for all ages. Congratulations to the project lead on earning the Eagle Scout rank and delivering a lasting project for the neighborhood.
